We compare products we compete with, so you are entitled to know exactly who pays for this site and what we get out of it. The short version: nobody, and nothing.
- No ads
- No affiliate links
- No sponsored posts
QR Code Builder is run independently by one person, not a company. It carries no advertising, no affiliate links and no sponsored content, nobody has paid for a mention or a ranking, and the site generates no revenue of any kind.

More background on what the site is and how it works is on the about page.
How the site is paid for
Directly, it is not. There is no revenue attached to this website:
| Revenue source | Used here? | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Advertising | No | No ad network, no banners, no sponsored slots |
| Affiliate links | No | No link on this site earns a commission |
| Sponsored content | No | No company has paid for a mention, review or placement |
| Paid rankings | No | Position in any comparison is not for sale |
| Data sale | No | No data is collected, so none exists to sell |
| Email marketing | No | No email address is ever requested |
| Paid plans | No | The generator has no paid tier |
| Any other income | No | The site earns nothing directly |
Stated plainly: the site generates no revenue. It is cheap to run because it is static files with all computation happening in the visitor's browser, and it is published because the free alternatives keep expiring on people who have already printed their codes. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
We compare tools we compete with
Pages such as best QR code generators and free codes with no expiration discuss products that compete with this one. That is a conflict of interest, and rather than pretend otherwise, here is how those pages are written:
- We state openly on the page that we built a competing tool.
- We name the cases where you should use something else, including paid platforms, and explain why.
- We describe categories of tool and what separates them, rather than ranking named products in a league table we happen to top.
- We do not publish claims about competitors' current pricing or watermark policies as settled fact, because those change constantly. We tell readers how to check for themselves instead.
- No competitor has been asked for, or has provided, anything in exchange for coverage.
You should still read those pages knowing who wrote them. The test we would apply: does the page tell you when not to use this site? If it does not, be sceptical.
How the content is produced
Guides are written from print production experience and checked against ISO/IEC 18004 and the relevant platform documentation. Specific practices:
- Technical figures are derived, not copied. The capacity tables in the reference data were produced by testing a reference encoder across all 40 versions and four correction levels, then cross-checked against the published standard.
- We do not republish unsourced market statistics. Adoption and scan-volume figures circulate widely without traceable primary sources, and we leave them out rather than add to the pile.
- Uncertainty is stated. Where platform behaviour varies or we do not know, the page says so.
- Corrections are made and credited. Report an error and it gets fixed; substantive changes are logged on the review date on each page.
- Review dates are real. A last-reviewed date means the figures and platform behaviour on that page were re-checked, not that a date field was bumped.
What we get from your visit
Nothing beyond a server log entry. There are no analytics scripts, no advertising pixels, no cookies and no accounts. The contents of any code you generate never leave your browser, so we could not build a profile of you even if we wanted to.
Full detail is in the privacy policy. If any of this changes, this page will be updated before it takes effect.
Commitments with an expiry check
Business circumstances change, and a disclosure page that promises otherwise is not credible. So, concretely:
- If affiliate links are ever introduced, they will be labelled inline at the point of the link, not disclosed only here.
- If sponsored content ever appears, it will be labelled as sponsored in the page heading.
- If a paid tier is introduced, existing free features will not move behind it.
- Any of the above would be reflected on this page before it happened.
You do not have to take our word for any of it. The site is static files: view the source, open the network tab, and check that nothing is being loaded or sent.
